The Museum is continuing a series of exciting events in its 2010 programme and these will be announced on this Website, the Devon Museums and also the Local Community's Websites  (see foot of page for web links) during the year.

In 2009 the Museum had an excellent exhibition programme, it opened in March with a display for six weeks, of photographic work by local TV celebrity Johnny Kingdom.   His photographs showed the people, places, animals and birds that he had taken during walks on his land; while working for TV and on Exmoor.

MUSEUM'S ACCREDITATION

The South Molton and District Museum is proud to announce that its application to the Museums Association for Accreditation was successful and has now achieved Full Accreditation status.   This is awarded to museums who demonstrate that they are working to specific museum standards, in areas of: collection care; visitor services; documentation and management.

Jenny Yendall, Access and Collections Officer, said “The Award is a marvellous achievement, one that everyone working in the Museum should feel very proud of and has only been possible due to the enthusiasm, dedication and commitment of the Museum's volunteers.   They have supported me and the Museum during the last three years.   Together, we have worked hard to raise the standard of the Museum and make it a successful visitor venue.  As a team, we will continue to work to high standards and maintain a well run Museum that visitors of all ages, can enjoy.” The South Molton & District Museum is seeking volunteers with an interest in assisting in the running of the Museum.    Please contact Jenny Yendall on 01769 572951 to discuss this further.
